DeSantis was successfully establishing a place for himself independent of Trump. But he has recently made poor decisions, such as continuing to battle with Disney and undermining support for Ukraine. His world tour was a good idea, but it looked poorly prepared and executed.

The Democrats would have to substantially screw up (always possible) for DeSantis to become president. The reason is UNLIKEABLITY which a trip to Mars and back won't cure.

Donald's running mate? Niki Haley would be a better choice. She could offer an excuse for swing voters to remain with Trump.
