I lived in NewYork, then Bethel, Connecticut and now Miami. I am originally from New Zealand.

There is New Yorker in me that I take wherever I go. And, like you I'm not the only one who feels that. Many New Yorkers travel because it was travel that took them to that great hub of human kind in the first place.

So, it's not just about the city itself. Its fortunes and people ebb and flow to simply larger boundaries. That point is vital today for the US togetherness and it is working to all our benefits although not without pushback from the old rural order. Florida, the Caroliners and even Texas are becoming more New York as is apparent in the swing of their politics.
