I agree with all that you say Mike. My suggestion is that we support people much, much more generously with state aid in the begining and not wait until they possibly lose their jobs, industries and towns. Put cash directly into individual and family pockets so they are ahead of the game.

We have been impressively cheap by not providing an adequate safety net (I much prefer it to be called a platform for opportunty because it's not a hand-out) for the millions of people adversely affected by globalization. My point is that we can have this fantastic bread winner as long as we shore up the debit side. Seriously tackling the global environmental issues can be helped by global partnerships in trade and the enormous wealth that this generates.
