I agree Eric Scholl that the US has an opportunity to show the world a path through this enormous challenge. Apart from the gigantic health issue, leadership needs needs to focus on a few simple basic actions regarding people in the economy. Keeping a lid opportunistic agendas from various sidelines would be helpful.

Where is the Democratic Party? They are absolute masters at making nothing from something.

Not to distract, but the Democrats began a year back with a splendid choice of talented men and women to fill the Presidency. They finished up with a tired old man whose wits are questionable and for more good reasons has almost no show of winning the White House. Pat yourselves on the back — if you can find it.

An opening does exist for the Democrats to get ahead of the game while actually doing something helpful for Americans, America and perhaps the world. Seize the moment before it passes you by.

The Democrats already had the idea in their camp thanks to Andrew Yang and his single great pitch of $1000 to every American. Mitt Romney and Steven Mnuchin have since taken ownership of the idea as an efficient and direct way to get relief / spending money into the hands of all citizens. The Democrats need to get this back into their territory if they stand for anything real at all. Take the idea, giving deserved credit to Republicans (even, you know who), and double or even triple the amount. Then fight like hell for that and drop all diffusing peripheral stuff. Chuck Schumer has to get focused with this corner stone of the package. By the way, he would be wise to drop the “worker” label, as apart from being a relic of a term, it feeds the “us and them” mentality.
