Hossein, where do we go from here?
We have bad leadership in Israel. Netanyahu is self-serving and hanging onto power at any cost, including extreme cabinet members destructive to Israel. The IDF has a security failure that they are compelled to overcorrect massively.
American leadership is, at best, mediocre. Biden is flatfooted, concerned about his election chances, and is such a lousy orator he can't communicate a "wiser" path in the Middle East catastrophe unfolding.
I believe it is possible to get across to Americans that with the interests of our friend Israel in mind, we don't support them on all actions. And that pummeling Gaza and invading is one in which America disagrees and will not support. That is NOT to say that America doesn't support Israel -- quite the reverse.
But Biden, America was not resolute (similarities with Ukraine). And attempts now for America to claw out of the cavernous hole are difficult, and rescuing Israel (apart from Palestinians) is now remote.
God. What a situation.
Those Israeli parents, girlfriends, and boyfriends of soldiers killed and maimed may, at some point, voice that enough is enough and be heard.
It's tragic because immediately following October 7, there was an opportunity to take an opposite course. But bad and mediocre leadership interfered.
Many thanks, and best to you always.
