Great story, Dave. He was probably overpaid.
I recall a friend in finance. His pay fresh out of Columbia Business School was impressive. But he lost millions for the firm and was let go. A more prestigious investment company employed him for double his previous salary and dismissed him after losing tens of millions of clients' money. He then nailed a position at the most renowned investment bank in the nation, where he surpassed all the losses from before.
Was my friend overpaid? I would say. But he was handsome and sounded impressive. He later opened a chain of gyms in Florida.
Look at David Cameron, recently appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs in the UK. The PM who precipitated Brexit, made all Britons poorer and lost London as financial capital to Paris. Charm is expensive, indeed!
However, these stories don't confirm that CEOs and others are overpaid.
Best to you.
