The above I don't quite get. The supply chain disruptions were primarily caused by shifts in demand because of the pandemic. I imagine that they would be modified and strengthened.

An economy that failed to care for the poor and middle class. Yes, it's had shortcomings although because of COVID and federal money pumped into the economy, low and middle incomes have been bolstered. Admittedly, the wealthy have benefitted considerably more.

The failure, which had been happening over decades, is the decreasing economic mobility of people in the U.S. (similarly in the UK). We all suffer because of the disparity of income, wealth and (because of these) opportunity -- including the well heeled.

Moving forward, we need something sensible to correct this. Otherwise our engines of prosperity (innovation, trade and immigration) become increasingly stymied. A generous base income is probably the way to go.
