Good article Eric. And if we we could truely answer some of those questions we would be better prepared for down the road.

I see the U.S. backing away from the rest of the world for some time now and Biden is a continuation of that trend (there are no new trade agreements on the drawing board and we are shutting our borders to outside talent even more). Apart from our posperity interests and dealing with the likes of climate, our security interests suffer because of this.

China is a real worry and I fear we are doing the wrong things. Although it's counterintuitive we should be in bed with China and not wall building. Although it may be difficult we should be pushing for intimacy at every opportunity. The thousands years old "keep your enemies closer" remains for a reason. By getting more business, schools, and cultural stuff into China and the like from China into the U.S. we lessen the chances of big confrontations. This is strength and not weakness. U.S verus China can be sport and not war.
