There was a missed opportunity for a change in the Monarch way back. Too often we fall into the trap of thinking that no other can do a particular job -- and that is nonsense. The UK had this with Winston Churchill who would never retire and likewise FDR in the US. Not that they were bad leaders but young replacements could have proved better. Charles, not a wonder boy, could have been refreshing in the position and has been absolutely qualified to take over for years. It is probably plain old selfishness or fear of letting go that the Queen is still there -- she has had her medicare and senior bus pass for decades now -- hasn't she?
The British Monarchy is entertaining and a good money maker -- so, for those reasons, keep it.
