Fun article Kurt Andersen. Many thanks.

People talk about things they know and so movies find themselves set -- well, in the movies.

I get a new defensiveness of Hollywood. Threatened by the the home screen that offers more realism than romance. A place for news and current stuff that can be glanced or caught rather watched sitting in one place from begining to end. And, streamed films don't have to be big offerings of general appeal but rather can be lots of small ones without known actors and tailored for different sets. Hollywood can't keep pace with the quantity, quality and variety from an industry now spread globally.

My partner and I don't watch so many films together anymore because we each have our own.
