Fay Wylde, inflation is a concern and we have problems on the supply side that can make it worse. We also have close to zero interest rates. But the "Build Back Better" (dreadful name) would be spent over a period of time and the cosequencies for inflation managable. The all important climate component of R&D would not be particularly inflationary.

Manchin's behavior can certainly tell us something about his West Virginia and other states as you point out. I'm unconvinced the real issue is inflation. He has a conservative state and he wants to keep his job.

It does bring up the question of how one person wanting to retain their job can amount to such a costly impedment to moving forward on climate. We are talking about the world here.

Hell, why didn't we simply pay every West Virginia coal industry person a million dollars. It would have been cheap at the price.
