Excellent, Shankkar Aiyar.

The additional tariffs on Chinese imports are an example of bad policies generated from previous bad policies.

I invite you to read "Americans Can Save $11,000 by Buying Chinese EVs."

Americans have moved into an isolationist and protectionist mode, misunderstanding or forgetting that Chinese manufacturing prowess elevated American living standards substantially (as well as lifting millions of Chinese from poverty). Today, American anti-Chinese sentiment is thick. In this background, Modi is Biden's new bride.

Since independence, India has favored self-sufficiency and shunned international trade for decades. This has changed, but what is the popular sentiment? Do Indians believe that importing benefits them?

Many thanks. Best.
