My guess is that the monarchy won't disappear anytime soon although there are very good reasons it should. People like it and doesn't do harm if not taken too seriously. Royalty is already an anomaly to most Britons and it brings the UK continued identity and income. With Britain breaking up the monarchy could offer a stabilizing role.

The event that is still grossly under realized is Brexit. The ill effects of which will have to be dealt with over the next 20 years and probably more.
