Unfortunately, we have a "lock them up" mentality and cry for punishment. Neither makes us safer.

We are dreadful accessors of risk which is illustrated by the gun situation. A shift from insecurity, fear, and outburst to a more pragmatic approach could make prisons a final response.

Excellent leadership can help. Identifying places making improvements and communities safer can lead to change elsewhere.
