Your're right that McConnell and Trump (and others) will move because they can. The danger too is that their nominee will be conservative, which is not necessarily a disaster, but the caliber mediocre.

There is a case for public pressure in the interest of all Americans that we are better served by a court that is somewhat balanced. Forget Trump, McConnell, (and probably Graham) as they can't see beyond their own driveways. Others may see a little further -- Romney for example.

Maybe my imagination, but I feel a pickup of confidence challenging this administration's license to do anything. Woodward's book (combined with others) has stiffened a few sinews.
