I applaud CNN's decision to do this with Trump. We all knew it would be messy (remember the presidential debate with Biden and Chris Wallace's audible phew! at the end), but it made unquestionably clear that Trump would continue as Trump.

The audience may have been misread by critics. People can join in the laughter for different reasons and regret it moments later (Will Smith first laughed and then struck Chris Rock).

Some may have laughed, recognizing a clown.
