Joe Manchin is what he is (the circumstances you eloquently point out) and could never be counted on. The real problem is that Democrats failed to deliver the strong majority in both House and Senate. And, that the left continues to behave as if they did.

Demonizing Manchin can quickly become counter productive and Democrats would be wise to get off it and move on. There is NO alternative to Manchin and he may still be useful somewhere.

Folk in rural places will continue to vote Republican even they deliver little to better their lives. Over the years Democrats withdrew all presence in these places in order to focus on cities. This has been a costly mistake and needs correcting. Sure to be a slog but worthwhile.
