The walls going up between the US and China are detrimental to us, China and the world. There are some difficult issues to be managed and not walked away from. The cost of "not bothering" with the relationship must be made absolutely clear in both dollar and security terms to every American. Unfortunately a tide of misunderstanding, lack of knowledge and political short term gains is working in the other direction.

New leadership required all round.
