Excellent article, Henryk.
We have the communication capability, but it's not working as we envisage. A computer feed with inaccurate data will produce an erroneous result no matter how many times we whirl the machine.
There is terrible confusion between the anecdotal and actual numbers. Each is valid, but one is an illustration and the other evidence. An American population (including many at the NYT) better educated in math would arrive at better decisions.
Beyond arithmetic, I witness isolation as an unhealthy and dangerous component inhibiting America's future. Regan (and Thatcher) were instrumental in moving their countries forward, but they sent a message that if you could not pull yourself up by your bootstraps, you didn't matter. We made lonely people who found comradeship in charlatan politicians, comfort in guns, and untrusting of anything new or foreign.
I believe this must and can be corrected.
Many thanks. Probably moves aways from your subject.
