Excellent article, Adebayo -- particularly because it raises many vital questions.

Chinese manufacturing prowess, including a flood of EVs, should be embraced by America and Europe and viewed as uplifting living standards and (contrary to popular opinion) employment. A rearrangement of the auto manufacturing industry must be allowed to occur; otherwise, more significant disruption to lives will come later.

Unfortunately, America has taken a protectionist position, especially with Chinese-made EVs, which will make Americans poorer and less secure. A new rust belt is being laid, and the tariff walls will further divide America and Europe from the Global South, which is not conducive to a stable world order.

Britain (as a powerhouse of enlightenment -- or having little auto manufacturing industry to protect) continues importing Chinese-made everything to its credit and advantage.

America and the EU, bullied by America into protectionism and self-sufficiency, are making a gigantic mistake. Dismal leadership is to blame with the likes of Joe Biden, Olaf Scholz, and Donald Trump.

Many thanks. Best.
