Egberto Willies, unfortunately China under Xi Jinping has taken an authoritarian turn which is not great for anyone including China.

Corporations fundermentaly behave the same as medium, small and family businesses. They are there to deliver goods and services that are new or offer better quality and price. They doing that over the centuries has upped our living standard to where it is today.

China's progress in this regard has been astonishing (and the U.S. helped and benefitted enormously). Certainly there are challenges moving forward and how they are addressed can make a big difference. Unfortunately America has been on a retreat from the rest of the world this century. With the misunderstanding that this will deliver more security and prosperity. Which it won't.
