Dylan, for decades the Republican Party has been split between the Northeast pragmatic, financially conservative, and outward-looking faction and the mostly Southern protectionist, nationalist, and more religious faction.

Donald Trump rallied the latter, and the former hardly exists today.

Richard Nixon struggled with opposition from the party's right-wing, as did the Bushes (who allowed the nominations of Samual Alito and Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court to appease).

Newt Gingrich immobilized the Republican Party with total opposition in the House. He successfully removed his party from policy and politics.

Hence, it is what we have today -- a party with zero vision of the future and uninspiring candidates for 2024.

Many thanks and best.
