Dr. Dion, your comparison with Harper Lee's book is a good one. Jean de Florette / Manon of the Spring also come to mind -- of the town coalesced in silence against outsiders.

That you see the Republicans' reluctance in the face of overwhelming evidence to convict is -- sticking together? Absolutely, but the reasons maybe both shallower and deeper.

Republicans are at sea, don't know which way is land and cling to something they know which is Donald Trump. They are frightened little men who have no imagination or gumption to do anything other. They represent a body who find themselves in a changed world not to their liking and dominance of power has slipped away.

(I'm anticipating the show where Mark Levin completely disolves in a pool of his own sweat).

The chilling thing to me -- Where is the outrage of all their voters? Like the town, they are a party to this.

I wrote "Now is the Time for Republicans to Rid Themselves of Donald Trump!" here on MEDIUM. Alas, they did not heed my advice.

Best to you.
