Donald Trump, the Town Hall Clown?
He provided all the brushwork for CNN’s picture — someone unfit for the presidency and dangerous
It was a messy masterpiece yet to be appreciated by most critics. Many commentators have chastised CNN for failing to fast fact-check, for crassly boosting ratings to make money, and, most of all, for giving Donald Trump a platform to spew. But CNN accomplished much by giving Donald Trump a platform to spew and perform his worst — and he did.
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, the town hall moderator of the evening of May 10, 2023, struggled with Donald Trump’s onslaught of untruths, irresponsibility, confusion, interference, personal abuse, and general nonsense. Donald slapped, threw, and poured paint onto the canvas creating a latter-day Jackson Pollock of some worth. He doubled down on himself and left no doubt about who he was. No Bob Woodward or Jonathon Swan was needed to extract information from the man cleverly. Donald Trump told the three million-plus audience, subject by subject, response by response, why he should never become President Again.
His scope was wide and colorful. Donald sang the oldies, Rigged Election, Country Gone to Hell, and Borders Are Bad, and added others like A Beautiful Day and Love in…
