Decreasing prosperity does not make for happy citizens. And, certainly not an atmosphere in which to address climate change.

We need increases in productivity to finance the enormous cost of transforming the world to carbon free. The R & D money requires is staggering.

And we are going to tell developing countries NOT to build schools, factories and have electricity in their homes? Essentially they are not to improve their lives?

We are going to cut off trade with China? Security exists around the world because of all the interconnections. We are going to sever these?

You personally may be very happy to cut your income and wealth by a third. Most people would not be.
