Dean, Biden's decision created a completely avoidable tragedy. To blame? Absolutely. The imperfect situation in Aghanistan had been managed to the point that it was costing few American lives (one in the last 12 months) and the financial expense had been brought down to something we could easily afford. Much of the tough and dangerous soldiering had already been handed over to NATO select forces. Forget the political fallout here for the moment because it is incidental.
We have suffered a disgraceful day in U.S. history. The small but significant achievements we had actually made in Afghanistan like folks (particularly women) leading much better off than 20 years ago. Those achievements have now been tossed. And for what?TOTAL ZIP. We don't now live in a safer world because of our cut and run.
Best to you Dean
