David Todd McCarty, the MEGA or Trump party, is in many ways the GOP turned upside-down.

The change came about with Newt Gingrich, the Tea party obstructionism, and a shut down of politics.

The traditional Republican Party favored the free market and not protectionism -- it championed globalization and competition. The party also favored immigration (George W. Bush had his migrant worker bill). His father, H. W., was fully engaged with the world and successfully returned the sovereignty to Kuwait.

The Basic Income was more a Republican idea than a Democratic one, and even the legalization of drugs belonged to the Republican camp.

The current party is no longer Republican.
