David St. Vincent, you are asking for imagination and wanting to see the reality of others. We were more frightened of ebola than perhaps Covid. Ebola included those awful images of the sick in Africa while imagery of the sick here with Covert was kind of clinical. Could partly explain the slownes to masking up and getting vaccinated.

And, It's much easier not to think and get on with our day. There are examples all over. Who cares about the plight of women in Afganistan after the U.S. finishes packing up? Individuals, races and countries shy away from other people's trouble. Human nature.

Shocking events such as George Floyd made a difference to me. I wrote "Donald's Ship Needs Sinking" published in Hearst papers and on MEDIUM.
