NATO has always been one of Putins's monologued grievances that every Western head of state has had to listen through for decades. NATO has NOT posed any serious threat to Russia. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (and WOW Sweden and Finland) joined NATO as protection from post-Soviet Union aggression that Putin has proven to be pretty FUCKING real.

LOOK. Putin is a mobster boss that has subjugated his own Russians and wanted Ukraine (which was vulnerable being outside NATO) answering to him and paying rent.

Ukraine wanted out from this arrangement. That's when threatened, and then attacked. Ukraine stood firm and refused to subjugate. Putin then determined Ukraine had to be destroyed as if it never exited (to save Putin's honor).

Putin's war has NOTHING to do with NATO, nazis, religious, cultural and historical bullshit. THIS IS PURE MOBSTER STUFF.
