The House and Senate Democrats fared reasonably well in the 2024 election, while the presidential race was an enormous, primarily self-inflicted loss.

The nominees chosen by the party establishment instead of voters have all lost: Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, and Walter Mondale (Biden won in 2020 under the cover of a pandemic).

In contrast, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, who voters chose, won the presidency -- and enjoyed second terms.
