Symbolism can run a muck if not in some harmony with reality. It can be dangerous to venture too far from home base. Egypt's Arab Spring was a case in point that in trying to secure a better life the hard won new democratic institutions were discarded resulting in the loss of them -- and peril.

Confusion between the anecdotal and the facts seems forever present and until that is clarified we have a problem. The image is all powerful at communicating a picture. Useful, often vital, but is in no way a substitute for evidence.
