Caren, while there was much anxiety over what would happen on the Bolsonaro side should Lula da Silva win, it has been thankfully pretty quiet. Although Bolsonaro has not officially conceded, indications are that he is cooperating with the transfer of power (he has put brakes on his lorry driver supporters, for instance).

Brazil, the Amazon, and the world can sigh relief that the guy is gone.

Lula (not perfect, but who is) must be congratulated. He has massive difficulties ahead of him. Like America, it is a very divided country, but also the restructuring of the economy to may it more productive. And education continues to suck.

Brazil could benefit from the West's pull away from China.

Caren, should you be including some foreign affairs? Please read my "Time for America and NATO to Act?"

Best to you.
