Caren, that was a telling article in the NYT. I thought it polite and tentative as if testing the water. But as you say, the point was quite clear.

When interviewed by Fareed Zakaria (CNN 6/12), David Gergen was upfront with Biden's unimpressiveness as president. There is the age factor in choosing to run again, but also leadership or lack thereof.

Biden was never a brilliant communicator. His team is allowing almost no interviews because he is lousy at them. But these conversations are often more critical than prepared speeches and press conferences.

A ton of talent exits for the Democratic nomination. Look at the 2020 show and its diversity. For 2024, even more will present themselves. Chris Murphy, Gavern Newsom, and Stacey Abrams could jump in, and there will be others we have not thought of.
