Caren, it's an even broader phenomenon than you express here. Old Americans have weight. They have money and clout. And as describe, they hang on tight until death. If we spent half as much money on our young things as we do our old things we would have a highly educated and competitive population.

The next presidential race may be different from 2020 when we were blessed with Donald and Corona. It was more holding the country together rather than moving it forward. When smart young candidates present themselves again the old folk will look really, really old.

Bernie, still articulate (I wrote short article about), has nothing new to say. Joe is clearly off with the Easter bunnies and Elizabeth? I probably couldn't stand her when she was young.

Stepping back even further, it feels as if we didn't move into a new century. Hopefully just a late start.

Many thanks. Best to you.
