The downside of the immigration issue is that it eclipses other vital aspects from being addressed, particularly the broader relationships with Central and South American countries. More U.S. investment and trade are critical to the security and prosperity of all Americas. What has happened is that drugs and, now particularly, immigration have overtaken these interests.
