Cailian, the short answer is if that's what they want.

Breaking away generally has more downsides than upsides. Divorces can leave the parties much less prosperous. Brexit is an example of one big bad decision people made and will suffer for decades.

Should Scotland depart the UK, it too would take an economic dive.

The world is currently in a crisis because of nationalism, and protectionism led principally by America and China. And we seem oblivious to the negative consequences. It will result in a slump in our prosperity and decreased security all around the globe.

Regions making their own countries should be resisted.
