Communism provided a change from repressive and dysfunctional monarchies. In the short term, it distributed wealth, health, and education; many had better lives than previously.

But tyranny becomes the norm without independent cross-checking bodies, particularly the judicial.

Tree structures (as opposed to lattice structures) don't work efficiently in socialism or capitalism. And must be resisted. Increased centralized power in Whitehall contributed to the mistake of Brexit. Biden is hell-bent on an industrial policy that will make America and the world poorer.
