There are many Republicans, feeling the wind in their sails, will want to go further. Mitch McConnell in his excitement declared that he was not stopping at state rights (an announcement he may be already biting his lip over).

I would imagine there would be zealots at the local level of politics but nationally Republicans will back off when votes begin to be lost. It's unclear if this court decision actually helps them.

Should this Supreme Court draft decision become real (and it looks as if it will), there will be lasting damage to the third branch of government. The decisions that it makes over many years to come is perhaps more to worry about than the actions of the Republican Party itself.
