America is big and elects a president and not a Prime Minister chosen previously by the party. Also, there are no snap elections.

This season was messed with by Biden insisting on a second term when he was not up to doing so. Kamala Harris took over the nomination without a primary, which took choice away from voters.

That said, Harris has opportunities to lead the shift in the popular mood to a new, confident America. Whether she can successfully capitalize on this remains to be seen.
