Better to move on quickly from ripping on Joe Manchin. Keep the venting of frustration short. He is a Democrat in a majority Republican state and was never going to play hero. He could never be relied upon to deliver the BBB package but he may be helpful with a smaller package or somewhere else down the road.

The BBB package had some excellent aspects but as a whole it was a cumbersome. Better to stay with legislation able to be explained to our grandmother in one sentence.

The problem for Democrats is their lack of numbers in both House and Senate. The expected wave in 2020 didn't happen. The left of the party has kind of maxed out in what they can achieve with their current hand (and, it's been a lot). Getting out across the country and communicating (which includes listening) on how they can help people. In very specific terms is best. Selling rights, entitlements and "Spending" plans doesn't work.
