Barry Gander, the U.S., can learn from the Canadian immigration experience. Particularly devolving authority to the provinces. America would gain by doing likewise with its states.

The Federal Government in America continues to have a monopoly over immigration. If broken, pragmatic solutions could be more readily implemented, and the charged national rhetoric on the subject dissipated.

Unfortunately, America, particularly under Trump but continued under Biden, has become increasingly isolationist, protectionist, and arrogant -- none will make Americans richer or safer.
