Ukraine needs to reclaim Crimea. Supplied with long-range precision weapons, it can destroy the Kerch Bridge and the land bridge, isolating Crimea. Russian bases and additional vital targets could then be attacked, making Russian occupation untenable.

There would be no peace with Crimea remaining in Putin's hands. By retaining Crimea, Putin could fashion a victory and too easily continue interfering with Ukrnian shipping.
