Revenge is not a defense. It's difficult and counterintuitive, but pragmatic thinking and actions can better serve Israel.

To eradicate Hamas is impossible, and trying to do so would likely cost many more lives than Israel has already lost.

The surrounding Arab countries are not (so far) rushing to support Hamas. If Israel can, at this critical moment, strengthen relationships with those neighbors, especially Saudi Arabia. MBS is ambitious and has the leadership skills to forge a security agreement that seriously includes the Palestinians.

Israel must modify its behavior to maintain its security and prosperity.
