And for good reason, John. That France abandoned their wealth tax tells us something.

The major reason against the wealth tax is that it would be a nightmare to assess and collection would always fall way short of expectations.

Better to go with a Value Added Tax (VAT) where ALL companies would pay because they buy stuff. Much broader than a Sales Tax which applies only at retail. The downside is that it's flat tax and would need correcting with a base income.
