Alexander, the risks of INACTION have to be compared those of ACTION.

WWII was upon us because of inaction and accommodation of the attacks on sovereign nations by one man, Hitler. Should Britain and France have been better prepared and acted sooner Hitler could have been stopped before he marched into practically the whole of Europe.

We in the West were dangerously permissive with Putin's behavior in Georgia, Syria, Crimea and elsewhere. In his attack on Ukraine we have always been behind the curve for reasons -- building consensus the overriding one.

The threat of nuclear war is certainly present. But does it diminish by allowing Putin to occupy any part of Ukraine? It's hard to believe that giving Putin a win makes the world safer. At this point he needs to be ousted from Ukraine and if supplying arms is understood to be insufficient in the task, then the full use of NATO should be used.

Many thanks. I admire your writing and views.
