Alexander, let's hope it is not a stalled offensive.
But, it has been difficult because Putin's forces were given time to dig in.
The West, particularly the Biden Administration, has created our current situation through its inaction, delays, incrementalism, and little or no goal or plan.
My essay of October 2022, "Time for America and NATO to Act?" remains tragically accurate.
Praise has been ladled on Joe Biden for his handling of Putin's war, but history will not be kind. Regarding Ukraine, America and the world have had poor to mediocre leadership from President Biden.
Let's hope the situation is not dire.
Putin would want the fighting to continue at a low level to provide, if not a victory, a purpose for his continued rule in Russian minds. Hence, stopping will be difficult. The negotiated outcome will likely be demoralizing for Ukraine. So much so that Zelensky and Ukrainians sour on the West and particularly America.
Forever behind the curve, Biden's not establishing a path for Ukraine to enter NATO will further push Ukraine away.
Many thanks. Best.
