The mistakes of Obama are showing now. His underestimation of the chaos that Putin could create was a big one.

Obama failed to intervene in Syria which became a humanitarian catastrophe and gave a leg up to Putin. To be fair, it was difficult because Bush had spent the public sentiment to such actions on Afghanistan and Iraq.
