Adebayo, many condemn British colonialism with scant knowledge of history. The British were interested in trade and development. They were great builders and, for the most part, not looters or rapists.

Is the world better today because of British colonialism? The answer is yes. Did some suffer and get left out? That's also yes.

We can ask ourselves whether New York is better today, having had Robert Moses build its expressways to Long Island, New Jersey, and upstate while destroying untold neighborhoods. The truthful answer is yes. His enthusiasm for these projects was eventually stopped when he destroyed more than he was creating.

I'm more familiar with India than Africa in the British empire days. Britain invested vast amounts of capital into India, building infrastructure (particularly railways) and a modern bureaucracy. India came to be a democracy and has a good relationship with the British today.

Many thanks. Best to you.
