With the help of these two (and others), Obama navigated America successfully through the financial crisis. With his Treasury Secretary, he pumped in unprecedented amounts of money to prevent a collapse of the economic system, which prevented significantly more widespread damage. Several banks went under, but others were reused.

That said, many homeowners across America were left owing more than their homes were worth, and more could have been done to alleviate the hardship.
