Adebayo Adeniran, yes, children are not viewed as equal. Our children will always be more precious than our neighbors.
But we can strive for equality of opportunity that benefits all (a child born in Mali can become a brain surgeon if provided the chance).
But there is enormous resistance to opening elite clubs to outsiders even when it can be substantiated that the club will be stronger and more prosperous for doing so.
Examples are everywhere:
Harvard and Yale universities could be ten times their size, but this would be damaging their eliteness (they boast of how many applicants they reject).
America and the rich world should have many times their current immigration to keep their nations vibrant and competitive, but they don't to preserve their identities.
My relatives belong to a church where the pews are quarter filled on Palm Sunday because they are not welcoming to folk who doesn't look like them. The church will close when the endowments run out.
Israel could become a more secure and prosperous nation should more in its population disbelieve they are innately superior.
Many thanks. Always valuable.
